The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will match up in Super Bowl LIX, a rematch of the Super Bowl from just two years ago.
These two teams have proved all season that they belong in this game, dominating their opponents and winning their respective conference championship games.
The Kansas City Chiefs have won two Super Bowls in a row, including three in the Patrick Mahomes era.
With this recent dominance, Mahomes has gained comparisons to Tom Brady, who is widely regarded as the greatest to ever play football.
Yet the Chiefs have dominant pieces all over the field, not just at the quarterback position.
This includes number one ranked Tight End Travis Kelce, number one ranked Defensive Tackle Chris Jones, and number one ranked Center Creed Humphrey.
This talent has led them to the One seed in the AFC with a 15-2 record. However, 11 of the 15 wins were only by one possession.
The close final scores of their wins insinuated claims that the Chiefs were “fraudulent” because all of their victories were by low margins.
These close affairs have proved to be helpful towards learning how to win the close games that characterize postseason football.
In the divisional round against the Houston Texans, they only led by one point entering the fourth quarter. They stretched this lead to nine in a comfortable 23-14 win.
This set up a match up with the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship, who have been Kansas City’s toughest competition in recent years.
They trailed the Bills by one point entering the fourth quarter, but Kansas City’s late game magic struck again, getting a crucial fourth down stop to clinch the 32-29 victory.
“Kansas City is going to three-peat and cement Patrick Mahomes as the GOAT,” said NFL fan Eric Murdock.
“If anyone can do it, Mahomes can.”
The Philadelphia Eagles last won a Super Bowl in 2018, knocking off Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
Now, they hope to knock off Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. They have the talent to do it.
This talent includes players such as Jalen Hurts, Lane Johnson, DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown.
At 14-3, they got the second seed in the NFC. Down the stretch of the season they relied heavily on the running abilities of Saquon Barkley, who has not let them down.
In the first round against the Green Bay Packers, he ran for 119 yards in a modest 22-10 victory. In their divisional round matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, he exploded for 205 yards and two touchdowns to lead them to a 28-22 victory.
At this point, defenses were focused on stopping the run. This didn’t matter to Barkley, however, as he ran for a touchdown on the first offensive play of the NFC Championship and added two more in the Super Bowl clinching 55-23 win over the upstart Commanders.
“34-27 Eagles are going to win,” said junior NFL fan Zachary Shen.
“Saquon Barkley is too dominant, nobody will be able to stop him.”
The Eagles and the Chiefs will play on February 9 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Patrick Mahomes and the reliance on the pass will match up with Saquon Barkley and the reliance on the run.
The Chiefs hope to be the first team to ever win three straight Super Bowls, while the Eagles hope to tarnish another legacy and provide hope for an underdog.
As these two powerhouse teams face off in Super Bowl LIX, all eyes will be on the Chiefs and the Eagles in their quest to cement themselves in NFL history.
