As a freshman, Emily Law has already made a significant impact on the PV soccer team, drawing praise from both her teammates and coaches. Despite being the youngest player on the field, her maturity, versatility and skill have earned her a place of respect among her peers.
Maddy Herniter, a senior captain, has watched Law’s growth closely over the season.
“Emily has brought a lot of skill to the team,” Herniter said.
“She’s on a high-level club team as well, and I think she carries that same level with her when she plays for PV. She always has good energy and brings quality to every session.”
Law’s commitment to bringing her best to each practice and game has not gone unnoticed, and her positive energy has played a key role in her success on this team.
While Law may have started the season a bit shy, she quickly warmed up and became a big presence on the team.
“She was shy at first, but once she started getting comfortable, I got to know her a little better and now she’s really lovely to be around. She’s super silly, and I love hanging out with her, even though she’s only a freshman.”
On the field, Law’s versatility stands out.
“As a player, Emily is super versatile,” Herniter said. “She can play as an attacker, she can play as a defender, and I trust her every time I give her the ball.”
This ability to adapt has allowed her to contribute to the team in various roles.
“I think playing high school is a really good opportunity to develop my game because I get to play with older, more experienced players, and I get to experiment with new things to add to my own personal game,” Law said.
For Law, the season has been one of both growth and connection.
“My experience has been really positive,” she said.
“I feel like I created a lot of bonds that I wouldn’t have been able to have if I wasn’t on this team.”
These connections have not only enhanced her experience but also made her feel supported both on and off the field.
“Everyone supports each other, whether we’re winning or losing. Everyone is always giving 100%, and that’s one of my favorite things about playing for PV.”
Law has already become an integral part of the team, and her teammates recognize her potential.
Herniter believes that with time, Law will become an even stronger leader.
“I wish she used her voice more to help lead the team,” Herniter said.
“She definitely knows what she’s doing, and I think the confidence to do so will probably come with time.”
Law’s journey from a shy freshman to a versatile and dependable player is just beginning.
With her skill, work ethic, and positive attitude, it’s clear that she has a bright future ahead, both as a player and as a leader for the PV soccer team.
