Girls’ Tennis Wins Stanford Tournament
On September 7th and 8th, Girls’ Tennis went to Stanford University to compete in the 4th annual Golden State Tennis Classic. PVHS Varsity Girls’ Tennis crushed all the other teams to win the title. The team won 22 out of 24 total matches.
“We all worked together great and had a lot of fun while playing,” stated Varsity Girls’ Tennis player Mia Dellovade.
The team came out focused and ready to win the tournament.
They often changed their regular lineups – sometimes it would be a senior singles or a sophomore singles.
Last year the team got second place and lost to Peninsula. Peninsula did not go this year, so they were placed in the first seed. They had better times of play and played against easier teams.
The girls also had a strong bond off the court. They watched movies and played games between matches, helping build team chemistry.
In the semi-finals, they beat Dana Hills
by winning all six games.
Last year, they won only four out of the
six games, so they stepped it up this year.
After beating Dana Hills, they went on to the finals, winning all six sets
and taking home a trophy. They dominated the competition because of their immense preparation and hardwork during the offseason.
After they won the tournament they went to San Francisco and bought ice cream, a tradition the team has whenever they attend this tournament. Afterwards they walked through the city holding the trophy.
