PVHS is known for their amazing star-studded athletes. A majority of athletes on campus have become more talented and stronger players because of their dedication to many sports.

These well-rounded athletes further develop their skills through different competitions. Some athletes play up to three sports during the year.

Many athletes play very contrasting sports while others play similar sports. Most football players will go from football to lacrosse because they are very similar. Other athletes will go from soccer to lacrosse.

Athletes who participate in more than one sport have the likelihood of excelling in all athletics. Playing more than one sport can help cross training. It can give athletes more time to decide which sport they want to pursue later in their athletic careers.

Competing in multiple sports can improve teamwork skills, leadership skills, and having a fix. The burn out rate of students that play one sport in comparison to multisports is much higher. Athletes that play more than one sport have fewer injuries that are caused by overuse.these athletes will have stronger muscles in there legs and arms and will help them achieve great accomplishments.

With playing many sports, some athletes have a hard time getting homework done. “Using all of the resource that you can to help you succeed in schoolwork.” Joseph Ford a senior who has played basketball, football, track through his high school career.

According to Dafne Faitelson, an athlete who plays water polo, shotput, and discus said,

“It’s a great way to meet new people and I would not have ever met some of my best friends that I have now.”

She plays alongside teammate Emmy Rener. Playing The same sports helped Rener and Faitelson become closer as friends and teammates.

There have been many professional athletes to do multiple sports. Well-known athletes like Vincent Edward “Bo” Jackson played for the Major League Baseball and the National Football League. During his time in baseball he played for the Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox, and the Los Angeles Angels. In addition, he was the

All Star-Game Most Valuable Player in 1989. In 1987, Jackson signed with the Los Angeles Raiders, which he played for four seasons and his career stopped after an injury. He was one of many professionals to compete in two sports and excel in both.

Each athlete has a goal in their athletic career.

“There is an ideal situation for every student-athlete,” Brian Shapiro stated.

An athlete may become stronger and more well rounded being in multiple sports opposed to working year round on a single sport. Every athlete has a different strategy to their success, either focusing on one sport or training in many sports.
