From Thunder to Warrior
Kevin Durant’s change of teams has left fans in shock and anger.
People say he is a traitor to the fans of Oklahoma City, while others say it was about time for him to leave to become more successful in his career. Over the offseason, Kevin Durant, former power forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder, switched over to become one of Golden State’s newest members. He is joining Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in their attempt to reach the goal of a championship.
When he left the Thunders, fans were in extreme shock from thinking that their best player would leave the team he’s been on since the beginning. Not only did he desert the city full of fans (causing much hysteria and anger), but he has upset the players on the Oklahoma City team. After all the hours of sweat and hard work they put in to try and win in the NBA Finals, seeing their leader leave could not have been easy.
Although he is receiving much hatred from fans all across the country, Durant’s switch to Golden State seemed like a reasonable one. In the 2007 draft, Durant was drafted to the Seattle Supersonics in the first round. Later the team was changed and relocated to become the Oklahoma City Thunder. Since then, just like his teammates, he has worked hard and continued to prove day in and day out that he is one of the best players in the league.
Never actually winning the finals through all those years, however, have taken its toll. It will be interesting to see if the Warriors will be able to adjust the new team, having now acquired Durant, and how the Thunder will do without their leader. It sure is going to be an interesting season.
