After a long summer of training and hard work the players of the National Basketball Association are getting ready for the war to the championships. This also means there will be many trades going on between teams and a whole lot of rookies, who are ready to show their amazing talents, coming in from college. With the NBA season starting on October 28th, there are storylines going out for each team and predictions on how well these teams will be doing in the 2014-2015 season. Now here are the top 3 storylines of the upcoming season.
The biggest storyline for this NBA preview is what Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks will do. When Carmelo Anthony moved to the Knicks in the winter of 2011, he would’ve never thought twice about re- signing with the Knicks for the remainder of his career. At this point in his career he needs to choose between a NBA championship or money. If he wants to keep a good salary then he should obviously stay in New York, but if he is really looking to win he should keep an eye on trading rumors. Some choices Anthony has is the Houston Rockets, the Chicago Bulls, or the Dallas Mavericks. If Anthony signs with the Rockets, then he will form a big three with two amazing players, James Harden and Dwight Howard. But if he joins the Bulls then he would make a great 1-2 punch with one of the best point guards in the league, Derrick Rose. There is also the choice for Carmelo to play for the Dallas Mavericks. Joining the Mavericks, he will have an opportunity to play with the twelve time all star-, Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk has only been able to get his team past the first round in the playoffs twice in his eleven year career. So it can possibly mean that all they need is the help of Carmelo Anthony to be more successful in the playoffs. Will Carmelo Anthony stay with the Knicks or will he look elsewhere to obtain basketball glory? Well, that’s just one other thing to see in the 2014-2015 NBA season.
The next big storyline, which would be the 2nd largest, is the Future of the Miami’s Big Three. After Miami lost the finals, the Big Three, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh opted out of their final years of their contracts. People didn’t expect results of the 2014 NBA Finals to impact LeBron James’s decision. But on the other hand you also have to think about how it might be better off for him if he played with younger players than with an aging wade, and Chris Bosh. But after failing to win the Finals, LeBron yet again makes a huge decision of going back to be a part of the Cleveland Cavaliers. In Cleveland he will have the help of a superstar that is already a part of the Cavaliers, Kyrie Irving. He will also have the support of a sharp shooting all-star, Kevin Love, who has been wanting to be traded so he can play with LeBron James. And so with the support of these two players, we will see if LeBron James can lead the team into another championship.
The 3rd biggest storyline is the future of Deron Williams, a point guard, of the Brooklyn Nets. Before the 2012-2013 season, Deron Williams was traded from the Utah Jazz to the Nets, getting everyone in Brooklyn thinking they got an extremely lucky trade. But unfortunately with him facing injuries and many other problems, it was the whole opposite and Deron and the Nets went on a major downfall. But since 2012 when Deron signed a max contract, his individual play has not lived up to expectations that he has made back when he was a part of the Utah Jazz. For an example, his point average has dropped in the last two seasons, and a disappointing 2014 playoff run. So now, listening to the trade rumors will probably be the most beneficial choice for him. So seeing what Deron Williams will do to improve his future career is definitely something to keep an eye on for the season.
