The Twilight Movies
The Twilight Saga, in my opinion, is one of the best sets of films in semi-recent years. After all, what’s not to love about a vampire played by Robert Pattinson and a werewolf played by Taylor Lautner?
This five-movie saga detailing the unlikely romance between a vampire and a human has captured the hearts of many, but unfortunately, these movies still don’t have the best reputation. As to the root of this poor reputation, I am unaware. Palos Verdes High School Junior, Arianna Proul, stated that these movies were “overrated” she says, “but I feel like the books would be better…” Granted, a vampire who sparkles in the sun might not be the most intimidating of villains, but as an avid Twilight fan, or in other words a “Twihard” (combination of Twilight and die-hard) and proud member of Team Edward, I am here to protect these movies.
Bella Swan, a teenage girl who decides to move in with her father in the small town of Forks, Washington, falls in love with Edward Cullen, a mysterious boy who she later discovers to be a vampire.
Although perhaps it is true that Edward and Bella are not the new Romeo and Juliet, Bella and Edward are still what modern vernacular would refer to as “couple goals.” After all, becoming a vampire as Bella does in the second to last film clearly demonstrates her devotion to Edward and represents the irrevocable love they share.
Lastly, when Edward and Bella had their baby, Renesmee, their family became ever more enviable. However, as a side note, I can’t be the only one who finds Jacob’s love for a newborn a little odd.Bella and Edward’s epic love story combined with the excitement that comes with hanging around with a bunch of vampires makes these movies quite exceptional.
Therefore, despite the issues many have with the Twilight saga, in my opinion, the Twilight Saga is a great set of movies and I encourage everyone to watch them with an open mind.
