Best and Worst of Two Democratic and Two Republican Candidates
Donald Trump:
Best: Trump’s plans to increase focus on illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is a huge problem in the U.S., especially in California. According to Mexico’s former ambassador to the U.S., there are approximately 30 million illegal immigrants in the United States. The worst part is, democratic politicians are encouraging illegal immigration. Illegal aliens (illegal immigrants) are now allowed to Best: Trump’s plans to increase focus on illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is a huge problem in the U.S., especially in California. According to Mexico’s former ambassador to the U.S., there are approximately 30 million illegal immigrants in the United States. The worst part is, democratic politicians are encouraging illegal immigration. Illegal aliens (illegal immigrants) are now allowed to get driver’s licenses in ten states, one of them being California. As a result of these illegal immigrants having driver’s licenses, they can now vote. Jerry Brown, democratic governor of California, recently signed a bill in which any person who renewed or secured a driver’s license through the DMV may now register to vote, or choose to opt out of doing so. Since illegal immigrants can get driver’s licenses, they can now vote through the DMV. America needs a president who will take illegal immigration seriously.
Worst: Trump’s plan to have Mexico pay for the “wall” (border fence.) Although I do support the need for an increase in focus on illegal immigration, I do think that Mexico shouldn’t be paying for the “wall” that Trump intends to build. I feel that Mexico wouldn’t benefit by the wall, or be affected negatively by the wall either. So the United States should be the ones paying for the “wall.”
Hillary Clinton:
Best: Clinton’s plans to raise the minimum wage. The minimum wage has been steadily increasing for a long time now; in fact, California will have a $10 minimum wage effective on January 1st 2016. However, while I support this idea, I don’t think it should be so high. A $15 minimum wage will affect everyone, an increase in taxes, as well as an expected drop of employment. Small business will most likely suffer greatly. Sources also suspect that if there was a $15 minimum wage, merchandise’s prices will also increase. Before making such a huge leap, I would suggest a $10 national minimum wage, and see where it takes us first.
Worst: Hillary’s role in the 2012 Benghazi attack. On September 11th, 2012, Islamic militants attacked an American Consulate, as well as a compound in Benghazi, Libya. The American Ambassador to Libya was killed, as well as three other Americans. It is suspected that Hillary Clinton denied the requests for additional security due to rising tensions in the area. People condemned Clinton’s actions immediately after the incident. Although Hillary took responsibility for the deaths originally, she has since attempted to shift the blame several times. There is no doubt that Benghazi has affected Clinton’s presidential campaign. The question remains, will she be able to recover, and win the election?
Ben Carson: Best: Establishing a flat tax. Carson wants a flat, or proportional tax (where every American is taxed the same rate.) He also wants to eliminate all corporate loopholes and laws that shelter the poor from paying taxes. He also argues that with the system that he wants to implement, the need for the IRS will not be necessary.
Worst: Carson “lying” about his offer for a scholarship at West Point. In October, Ben Carson stated that he was offered a “full scholarship” to the United States Military Academy at West Point. “I was offered a full scholarship to West Point, got to meet General Westmoreland, go to Congressional Medal of Honor dinners.” According to a West Point spokesperson, the academy had no records of Carson’s acceptance, or even an application. Although it is hard to find out if either of these claims are true, the fact that the academy denies affiliation with him tells us enough.
Bernie Sanders: Best: Helping the majority of the people. Sanders wants to help the lower class and get them on their feet, “no one who works 40 hours a week should be living in poverty.” He also wants racial equality, which seems to be a major concern in today’s current events. These are good plans for a candidate to have in mind. The president needs to turn some of his focus on the internal issues within our own country. Sanders has said that he will.
Worst: His plan on taxing the wealthy more. “Demanding that the wealthy and large corporations pay their fair share in taxes.” As of right now, the poorest people in America are only paying 10% in taxes. The wealthiest people in America are already paying 39.6% in taxes. Yet, most democratic politicians want them to pay more in taxes. This is not a plan that I view as productive. The growing divide between what the wealthy pay and what everyone else pays needs to get smaller.
