It seems like every time I am trying to just buy my pack of gum and get out of Rite-Aid, I am assaulted by a magazine cover sporting Kim Kardashian in a bikini, while emblazoned above her head are the words “Kim’s butt gets BIGGER! How can YOU maximize your glutes?” I have to wonder how they even became so huge in the first place – the Kardashians, I mean.
Being famous usually means you have some special skill that helped you get noticed by the public. Whether it’s being able to look sexy while fighting crime on television or writing the great American novel, fame is supposed to indicate that you have at least a talent of some sort. However, to the best of my knowledge, the Kardashian sisters don’t have any talents that set them apart from the rest of society – that is, except for being able to pole dance at the age of thirteen. No, these bodacious girls are famous for being famous.
The reality show “Keeping up with the Kardashians” brought them into the lime light and they have been talked about ever since. However there are dozens of reality shows with MUCH more entertaining footage whose stars aren’t nearly as famous as the Kardashians. Sure, Kim has some badonkeydonk if you know what I mean…but there are girls with better bodies than her who are not famous.
You have got to hand it to the Kardashian sisters. They created their own fame out of nothing but some Armenian beauty and a whole lot of drama. This just shows how susceptible our society is today to believing what the media tells us. A young woman sees Kim Kardashian’s name on a magazine and is led to believe that fame means something, when in reality, it means nothing. Kim hasn’t done anything that noteworthy in terms of music, television, literature or even fashion. Yet, women look up to her as a iconic figure. Does she even have a career besides hogging the tabloids? So next time you are buying that pack of gum, I recommend checking out a magazine that highlights someone who actually deserves to be promoted.
