Power Snacks to Help You Study

    Studying, procrastination and late nights go hand in hand and have all become parts of an average student’s lifestyle. Though studying is something we all dread, there are some ways to stop yourself from procrastinating, and in turn get into bed earlier. Below are some snack ideas to make the dreaded studying a little easier and get you through the night.

 

Banana Bites

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas
  • Peanut butter
  • Wheat tortilla

Directions:

  1. First, on one side of the tortilla evenly spread the peanut butter
  2. Next, peel the banana and wrap the tortilla with peanut butter around the banana
  3. Lastly, slice the banana into pieces and enjoy!

 

Frozen Yogurt Blueberries

Ingredients:

  • 1 container of fresh blueberries
  • Any flavor of yogurt (although blueberry, strawberry, and vanilla are recommended)

Directions:

  1. Start by washing the blueberries and lining a small baking sheet with parchment or wax paper.
  2. Using a toothpick, dip each blueberry into the Greek yogurt and swirl until the blueberry is nicely coated with yogurt. Place on baking sheet. Continue this until all blueberries are coated.
  3. Place the baking sheet into the freezer, and let freeze for at least an hour.
  4. After about an hour, the yogurt-covered blueberries will be ready for snacking!

 

Peanut Butter Honey Apples

Ingredients:

  • 1 (6 oz) container plain Greek yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 3 teaspoons honey

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, peanut butter, and honey.
  2. Stir until combined and smooth. Serve with apple slices or other cut up

   other fruit.

Strawberry Banana Ice cream

Ingredients:

  • 4 large very ripe bananas
  • 1 lb. strawberries washed and hulled

Directions:

  1. Peel bananas and slice into 1/2 inch pieces. Slice the strawberries. Arrange banana slices and strawberry slices in a single layer on a large plate or baking sheet. Freeze for 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Place the frozen banana slices and strawberry slices in a food processor or powerful blender. Puree mixture, scraping down the bowl as needed. Puree until the mixture is creamy and smooth. This will take awhile. Don’t worry, the bananas and strawberries will come together. Keep scraping and mixing!
  3. Serve immediately for soft-serve ice cream consistency. If you prefer harder ice cream, place in a freezer container and freeze. When ready to serve, let the ice cream sit out for 5 minutes. It will be hard right from the freezer, but it will soften up and you will be able to scoop it.

*Note-Make sure you use a powerful food processor or blender!

Peanut Butter Granola Balls

Ingredients:

  • ⅓ cup honey
  • ¼ cup natural honey
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup crisp rice cereal
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ¼ cup dried cranberries
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, peanut butter, and butter. Stir until melted and smooth, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in cereal, oats, and dried cranberries. Let the mixture cool for about two minutes and stir in the chocolate chips.
  2. Drop mixture by tablespoon into mini paper cupcake liners. Place on a rimmed baking sheet, and refrigerate until set (about 15 minutes).
