Cut Loose with Footloose
Cut loose with the cast of Footloose at Palos Verdes High School! The PVHS Drama Department presents Footloose for this year’s spring musical.
Ren McCormack, a teenager from Chicago, and his mother move to the small town of Bomont to restart after his father leaves them.
Bomont is not the most “normal” town. After a tragic accident that affected the whole town, the Reverend convinced the town to outlaw dancing.
With the help of the Reverend’s daughter, Ariel, and Ren’s new best friend, Willard, Ren plans to find a way to bring dancing back to Bomont and lift the town’s spirits.
The cast has been working for months perfecting each dance step, each word, and each note. Each day at rehearsal is another day closer to the show.
The cast, crew, and orchestra put an unbelievable amount of hours into the show to make it ready for the audience. Senior Taylor Bockrath, who plays the character Rusty, said, “It’s my last show at PVHS so I want to make it the best show I’ve been a part of here.”
The cast has agreed that there was a much easier connection to their characters since they are high school students.
Sophomore, Hayden Kharrazi, who plays Ren McCormack discussed his connection to the show.
“I watched the movie for the first time when I was a little kid and I always wanted to play Ren and now that I finally get to do that, it’s really exciting.”
Junior Jack Stoler, who plays the rebellious Ariel, said, “I love how we incorporate dance into numbers when we aren’t allowed to be dancing in the town.
I think it’s so fun how our choreographer was able to do all of these group numbers while staying true to the plot of the story.”
