Veteran’s Day
Veterans Day is much more than just a day off of school. This special day is recognized annually on November 11th, in order to honor the courageous military soldiers that have served or are currently serving our country. America shows are gratitude in order to support veterans, as well as their families. Veterans day has been an American holiday since the early 1900’s.
This actually used to be called “Armistice Day”, which marked the anniversary of the ending of World War One. Veterans Day is often mistaken or confused with Memorial Day. Both holidays are celebrated to honor U.S. veterans.
Veterans Day is honoring those who have served, and Memorial Day is honoring those who have passed while serving. Memorial day takes place on the last Monday of May every year. Both holidays are equally important and should be commemorated every year out of great respect.
It’s important to remember this day, to show respect and thank the millions of veterans who are brave enough to risk their lives and serve our beautiful country. You can also support our veterans by funding and supporting companies and organizations that help them. Unfortunately, millions of veterans suffer from diseases after they have served. These veterans deserve respect because of the brave service they have provided for our country. Therefore, help from our community is greatly appreciated.
In order to honor this day many schools are closed even if it isn’t a legal requirement. Many people like to spend this day by honoring veterans in annual ceremonies, parades, and others to show gratitude.
Veteran’s Day is unfortunately often overlooked as a day off of work or school, therefore it is extremely encouraged to spread the word of the importance. We should express our gratitude to those who volunteered for the bravest task in America. Participating in ceremonies, or educating friends are some good ways to help support, and show respect.
