Kate Middleton
Ah, royalty. If you were anything like me as a child, then at some point or another you probably wanted to be a princess. Catherine, or “Kate” Middleton, although technically classified as a duchess, is the real life version of every little girl’s dream.
Kate Middleton is the epitome of a role model. She is intelligent, beautiful, has a killer sense of style, two adorable children, and not to mention is married to the person second in line for the throne of England.
Middleton’s relationship with Prince William is nothing short of awesome. They met in 2001 when they were both studying at the University of St. Andrews, and got engaged in 2010 in Kenya.
Her wedding was perfection, marrying in Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. Middleton’s dress, made of satin and featuring an overlaid lace bodice and appliqued skirt, was jaw-dropping. There was glitz, glamor, theatrics, and you know you’re important when the queen attends your wedding.
Moving forward from the wedding, the Duchess continues to shine. She is a patron of many charities including BeatBullying, Centrepoint, Child Bereavement Charity, PeacePlayers International, Place2Be, Prince’s Trust, and more.
In addition, her sense of style, known as the “Kate Middleton Effect” has revolutionized British as well as American fashion. Newsweek went as far to say, “The Kate Effect may be worth £1 billion to the UK fashion industry”.
With regards to her her adorable children, on March 26, 2015, legislation in the form of the Crown Act was passed which eliminated the factor of gender in determining succession, allowed for someone married to a Roman Catholic to accede to the throne, and made it so only the first six in line to the throne are required to seek the Sovereign’s permission to marry. This act was crucial so that when Prince George was born, even if he had been female, the child would’ve been able to take over the throne when it became time.
Kate Middleton, therefore, has had a tremendous impact already and will continue to do great things and inspire.
