Upgrades to the PV Gym
It felt like just yesterday I was walking into the Palos Verdes High School gym to begin my career as a Sea King. It was the summer going into my freshman year and I can assure you that I was thrilled to begin. That year, the gym’s floor had been just waxed and I couldn’t help but feel impressed at how well a condition the facility was kept in. I thought that that gym was the best kept in the country and no other high school could have a better building, but boy was I wrong.
But since then I am happy to announce that during the end of last school year and over the summer, the gym had many renovations that took it to being over the top. Just as usual, the wood floor was waxed during the summer and keep the player’s shoes from slipping and sliding. Along with the normal fix came a couple other perks. The benches, which were once filled with holes from students punching and kicking them, were replaced with pristine new black ones. Although this may not seem to be important, but to those who practice and sit on them five days a week, it’s a big and better change.
Another major update was the painting upgrade. The entire gym was repainted with the recurring theme of our school colors: red and black. The amazing display gives off a sense of school pride which anybody would be proud of to either cheer or play for. The last thing I will mention is the roof. We also had the old metal sheet roof, which had many dings from volleyballs smacking it, replaced with a new and cleaner looking top. All the repairs and upgrades to the gym look amazing, but don’t take it from me. If you have any time during the school year, I recommend you come down to a sports game and see the gym for yourself.
