Rhinestones, glitter, pastels, oh my! This spring’s latest nail trends feature some of the most sparkling designs yet. From simple neon French tips to nails decked out in glitter, this spring is filled with nails that pop.
Since spring brings flowers and animals out of hibernation, lively and bright colors are trending. Light pinks, dazzling purples, and baby blues reflect the wondrous garden colors of this season. PV High junior, Bella Centofante, has been keeping up with these latest styles. Centofante advises using “pastel colors for the base of the nail and white for designs” for a fun spring look. The designs can be made using “a thin tip nail art brush” that can be purchased at most drug stores or beauty supply warehouses. She also recommends “OPI, OPI by Sephora, and Essie brand nail polishes” for the best looks around.
For a less flowery look, Lauren Maslauski recommends “geometric figures and tribal designs.” This look still makes nails pop, but takes a different angle. These designs can range from sporadically drawn figures, to finely concentrated patterns. Maslauski also advises the use of “anything gel” for a look that will last.
For those who are not so handy when it comes to their hands, tape can be used to help create straight-lined designs. These designs include zig-zag patterns, vertical or horizontal stripes, and geometric figures. Nail art pens and the right fine tipped brushes also help in creating straighter, cleaner designs.
Another popular style is color blocking. This involves painting each nail different colors, painting half the nail one color and the other half a different color, or creating colorful French tipped nails. Primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) are commonly used together for a classier look, while light pastels (pinks, blues, purples, and more) can be combined for a lighthearted look.
If you are a fan of glitter or rhinestones, then this season’s nail trends will interest you. Nail artists are using anything shiny to make their nails stand out. Whether it’s a glitter overtone to a bright color, or rhinestone figures glued to the nail, these sparkling items are growing in popularity. Lauren Maslauski recommends studs for an edgier look.
Nail art trends are constantly changing with the seasons, so these neat ideas won’t be in style for very long. According to Bella Centofante, “holidays are the perfect time to paint festive nails,” so new ideas are constantly making a splash. Get some friends together, go to the salon, or relax by yourself and try out this spring’s nail art trends for a look that is dazzling from nail to toe.
